New Organizing Coordinator, North Jersey

Brandworkers is seeking a New Organizing Coordinator based in Northern New Jersey to support local food factory workers in developing new workplace campaigns, primarily by conducting research, building new contacts and partnerships, and recruiting and training volunteers. 

Who we are

Founded in Queens, NY in 2007, Brandworkers is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local food factory workers with the training, infrastructure​, and community​ to build unions for​ ​dignified jobs and power in society. Our vision is a food system where food factory workers set dignified working conditions and democratically operate the industry through direct action, solidarity, and worker-led unions. We partner with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) union as a way for food factory workers to build their own worker-led-and-operated unions. After over ten years in NYC, Brandworkers has been able to grow to support workers in North Jersey to build power across the metropolitan specialty food manufacturing industry. 

What you’ll do

The New Organizing Coordinator for Northern New Jersey will be supervised by the Lead Organizer and will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research and building relationships to identify strategic organizing opportunities in the North Jersey specialty food manufacturing industry
  • Building and leading an organizing apprentice program with quality recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentorship
  • Developing partnerships with grassroots and community organizations in the North Jersey area
  • Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of a field organizer to support workers with workplace organizing and campaign training

Fluency in Spanish and access to a car are preferred, but not required.

Office space and remote work options are available for this position We are open to a variety of experience levels for this full-time role with a starting salary ranging from $48,000 – $54,000. Brandworkers provides fully-paid health insurance benefits, as well as a retirement savings match program.
